Spectator Etiquette
How to Be a Great Gallery
No spectator ropes

Only OB boundary ropes are deployed on course. Maintain at least 6 feet of distance from all ropes and marked boundaries at all times.

Quiet on the tee: No talking, movement, or phone sounds while a player is addressing the disc on the tee pad or putting.
Stay behind players: Never position yourself ahead of any player in a group. The gallery follows behind the group.
No flash photography: Flash and shutter sounds are distracting. Use silent/burst mode if taking photos.
Follow the gallery marshal: Gallery marshals direct spectator flow. Follow their instructions on when and where to move.
Right of way: Players and caddies always have right of way on all paths and trails.
Leave no trace: Pack out everything you bring in. Use provided trash and recycling stations.
Following Play
How to Watch
Lead card: The top-scoring group. At Brighton, only lead card gets a full gallery on Hole 2 due to terrain.
Chase card: Second-place group. Gallery uses designated blue-zone viewing areas on select holes.
Walking the course: GA spectators walk down the mountain at Brighton — the chairlift is reserved for players and staff.
Spectator Central: The main gathering area between Holes 7 and 9 at Brighton. Food, drinks, merch, and live scoring.
Party Shirt Zone: The famous Party Shirt hole — stay in the designated zone behind the tee. Flamingos welcome, fairway access not.
Hole 18 amphitheater: The finish hole. Spectators on the road-right side only. Natural amphitheater seating on the hillside.
Live scoring: Follow along on UDisc Live for real-time scores and leaderboard updates.
Altitude Advisory
Playing at 9,000 Feet

Brighton sits at 8,755 ft — nearly a mile higher than Salt Lake City. The altitude affects everyone, players and spectators alike.

Hydrate: Drink twice as much water as you normally would. Start hydrating the day before.
Sun protection: UV is 25–35% stronger at this elevation. Sunscreen, hat, and sunglasses are essential.
Pace yourself: You'll get winded faster walking hills. Take breaks, sit down when you can.
Weather shifts fast: Mountain weather changes in minutes. Bring a rain layer even on sunny days.
Temperature: Expect 15–20°F cooler than the valley. Morning temps in the 40s–50s, afternoon 60s–70s.
Canyon Rules
Big Cottonwood Canyon

Brighton is in Big Cottonwood Canyon, a protected Salt Lake City watershed. Special rules apply to everyone in the canyon.

No dogs: Dogs are prohibited in Big Cottonwood Canyon — no exceptions, even in vehicles. This is a watershed protection law.
No swimming: No body contact with any water in the canyon. The creek feeds Salt Lake City's drinking water.
No camping: Camping is restricted to designated USFS campgrounds (Spruces, Redman, Jordan Pines). No dispersed camping.

Food & Drink
Food & Beverage
Spectator Central: Hot food and concessions between Holes 7 and 9 at Brighton, operated by Brighton Resort F&B staff.
Beer: Uinta Brewing — Utah's premier craft brewery and long-time Brighton and disc golf supporter. Walk-around open container in designated areas.
Base lodge: Brighton Lodge has a coffee shop, Rose BBQ, and cafeteria open during event hours.
Water stations: Hydration stations on the mountain. Bring a refillable water bottle — altitude dehydrates fast.
