The Story

The Observatory Park DGC — nicknamed "The OP" — was established in 2020 as a complement to the popular Fort Buenaventura disc golf course in Ogden. While The Fort offers tight, heavily wooded play, the OP provides a contrasting experience with wide-open hilltop holes featuring significant elevation changes.

The course has grown organically over its short history, with the local maintenance crew adding new holes and expanding the layout. The hilltop section at Observatory Park features open bomber shots with OB challenges, while the lower holes near the Ogden City baseball fields weave through wooded terrain. The combination creates one of the most varied disc golf experiences in the Ogden area.

The course hosts tournament play, including NADGT qualifiers and the Northern Utah Spring Sling. Multiple layout options (Front 10, Back 12, full 22) allow tournament directors to customize the challenge.

What Players Say

robbyg4★★★★

Super fun and open course with good elevation. The OB adds some extra challenge.

akcondor★★★★

Course is under rated. I would say it's biggest draw back is flow through. Lots of extra walking, but it's quite a relief to play in the open space after playing The Fort.

noahstat★★★★

Terrific course with some very challenging holes!

mtcherry★★★★

The new holes on the hill are really fun! Feels more like a bomber course now. A good complement to the Fort.

jacobserio★★★★

Great mostly-open course. Like a polar opposite of the main Fort but with some wooded holes near the end.

Maintenance

Maintained by a dedicated local crew that has steadily improved the course since its 2020 opening. The team has added new holes on the hill, worked on fairway maintenance, and improved signage. Mowing of fairways and greens is ongoing. The lower wooded holes need continued development to match the quality of the hilltop section.
